Emotions Matter: Creating More Compassionate Schools and Communities Through Emotional Intelligence

Kathryn Lee, M.A. and Shauna Tominey, Ph.D. led an interactive evening for adults and teens. They shared tools and strategies to teens and adults in the area of emotional self-regulation, stress reduction, and improved communication.

The facilitators, Shauna Tominey and Kathryn Lee, brought their expertise as staff of the Yale Center for Emotional Intelligence. The Center, in partnership with organizations such as TED, Facebook and Lady’ Gaga’s Born This Way Foundation, is leading the way in a nationwide discussion on the role of emotional intelligence in youth culture, education, and family life. The evening included full group discussion and breakout activities.

Emotions as a point of connection across race, gender and class difference were explored.
